Gibbs Lab - Public Programs

A representation of Janus, the two-faced Roman god of doorways and namesake of the month of January, shown on an ancient Roman coin

Welcome to the Gibbs Laboratories Public Programs repository. Here you will find the downloadable executable versions of the public programs written by members of the Gibbs Laboratories.

All binary executables are in DOS format for use under Microsoft DOS or Windows. Please contact us for Unix versions.

DnDscan

Assess the variability in sets of aligned sequences by calculating the percentage mean pairwise difference inside a sliding window.

Lu-Tze

Lu-Tze, the ancient History Monk from Terry Pratchett's Diskworld stories.  He will look through the history of a segment of your aligned sequences and report on the changes over time (which is presumed to be the order in which the sequences are supplied in the file).

Patristic

A program for calculating patristic distances and graphically comparing the components of genetic change

Virusbanker

VirusBanker is a searchable and editable database for organising families of viruses.

NCSF

The Nucleotide Conserved Site Finder; used in the process of primer design.

While we make every effort to provide binaries fresh from the compiler, we recommend use of appropriate virus detection and control software to prevent any unwanted problems that other people might introduce.

Online versions

If you want to use any of these programs through the Internet, they are available through a web front end at the JANUS front page. Documentation for the JANUS system is available here.
